01. Providing support for SMEs associated with GRIs' branch offices

Purpose

To build R&D innovation competencies of local SMEs and aid in regional growth by utilizing the assets (e.g. high-quality workforce, high-tech research facilities, sole technologies) of GRIs' branch offices

Demand-based bottleneck technology development Providing technology development support for bottleneck technologies of SMEs associated with GRIs branch offices
Fund Technology development for technology transfer: Up to KRW 152 million; Demand-based bottleneck technology development: Up to KRW 120 million

02. Dispatching researchers from public research institutes (Entrusted project of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups)

Purpose

To build technological innovation competencies of SMEs by dispatching researchers from public research institutes to SMEs for technology expertise transfer and R&D assistance

Beneficiaries Technological innovation-oriented SMEs (Inno-Biz), management innovation-oriented SMEs (Main-Biz), and ventures with affiliated research institutes
Details of support Dispatching public research institutes' researchers with a master's or doctor's degree or equivalents to SMEs

caution Only one researcher per company; up to 3 years (may extend for another 3 years only once)


Dispatched researchers are assigned to the affiliated research institutes to perform the following duties.

Technology development Technology strategy making and development planning, technology development, test and evaluation (e.g. performance, specification, durability tests), etc.
Technology planning Surveys and analyses on academic papers and patents, technology prediction, technology development project planning, new product planning, etc.
Technology management Patent application, quality control and certification, technical sales, building technological cooperation networks, establishing strategic alliances, responding to and managing technological partnerships, etc.

50% of the annual salary of the public research institute to where the research is dispatched

For the first 3 years of dispatch 50% of the public institute's annual salary
Additional 3 years* 60% of the public institute's annual salary
* Additional 3 years: If a dispatched researcher is employed as a regular employee of a company, 60% of the annual salary is provided (by the government). An additional incentive not exceeding 5% of the annual salary is provided for the researcher (by the government and the company)

03. Dispatching researchers from public research institutes to materials, parts, and equipment companies (Entrusted project of the Ministry of Science and ICT)

Purpose

To aid in building technological competencies of SMEs and middle-standing enterprises engaged in materials, parts, and equipment industries, based on an outstanding research workforce of the Convergence Innovation Support Group

- (Participating companies) SMEs and middle-standing enterprises with affiliated research institutes (R&D departments)
Details of support Helping materials, parts, and equipment companies secure next-generation technologies and quality products and services through on-site assistance, such as dispatch of researchers from public research institutes and business trips to the companies

- (Fund) Government subsidy of KRW 300 million per project per year ※ R&D expenses paid by institutions (companies) not included
Project features - (Corporate demand-based joint research projects) Materials, parts, and equipment companies’ demand-based R&D projects conducted by supervising R&D institutes and participating companies
- (Field support for companies) Aiding in corporate technology development at a close distance through at least three-month (90 days) field support such as business trips and dispatch
